EUDORA RELEASE NOTES

Section I: New Keystrokes

In version 4 or later, use CTRL+INSERT+DOWN ARROW to read the preview pane from the messages list box. Select a message in the list and press CTRL+INSERT+DOWN ARROW to read the first screenful of text. As always, to read the entire message, press enter on it and use the PC cursor. Should this keystroke be pressed when not in the messages list, the user will be alerted and information will be spoken to indicate the window containing the active cursor. An alert is also given if the Microsoft Viewer is on, which obscures the windows and creates difficulty when reading messages. Although the preview pane will read, we suggest that you turn off the Microsoft Viewer in Tools|Options|Viewing Mail, and restart Eudora.
The Preview Pane will not work in Version 3. If you are using Version 4 or later and do not have it turned on, you will be alerted when pressing the ReadPreviewPane keystroke. Activate or deactivate it in Tools|Options|Viewing Mail, and restart Eudora for it to take effect.
If you are using Version 4.1 or later and have the Task Status or Task Error windows in the foreground, we suggest that you deactivate the Preview Pane.
Closing the Task Window
To close this task window, press CTRL+INSERT+F4, similar to closing the Office Assistant in the Microsoft Applications. You will be returned to the messages list and land on the first unread message.
ScreenSensitive Help
As always, press INSERT+F1 to hear screensensitive help. We have now added version and window-specific help for all windows of Eudora. In versions prior to version 4, you may receive the same screensensitive help in both the message edit and viewing windows. This usually occurs when the message was received in rich text. In all versions, each of the controls in both pages of the address book has screensensitive help attached.

Move to a specific field in message composition
We have enhanced the To, CC, and BCC hot keys (CTRL+SHIFT+T, CTRL+SHIFT+C and CTRL+SHIFT+B respectively). Press the key once to hear the contents of the field, press twice in rapid succession to move to and edit the field. There is also now support for the Subject and From fields. Press ALT+5 for subject, and ALT+1 for From. The Subject keystroke with a double press will allow you to edit, but the From will not, as it is read-only.
MoveToMessageBody
Press CTRL+SHIFT+M to move to the message body window from either To, Cc, Bcc, Subject or Attach fields. This only applies to message composition windows. If your cursor seems stuck in the Attach edit (and read-only) box, press this keystroke to move to the message body. When it is pressed, the contents of the first screenful of the message are spoken and the PC Cursor (visible caret) is placed in the edit window.

Section II: Fixes To Old Features

SpellCheck now speaks correctly when entered. The first unknown word and first suggestion are spoken and spelled upon entering. Press one of the buttons, and subsequently the next unknown word and suggestion are also spoken and spelled. This now happens until SpellCheck is complete.
Hot Key Help is now fully integrated and window-specific. Hot Key Help is available for both panes of the address book, the message windows, and all dialogs. The message viewing and editting windows have the same information spoken
Dialogs which previously did not read correctly now read the static text in the normal Jaws fashion. Examples are the warning and alert dialogs.
